Cancer treatment can involve difficult decisions, complex therapies, and significant effects on your overall health. Restore Health provides personalized, evidence-informed naturopathic oncology care designed to support Utah patients before, during, and after conventional cancer treatment.
Dr. Daniel Nyman, NMD, DC, works alongside—not in place of—your oncology team. Each care plan is developed around your specific cancer diagnosis, current treatment, laboratory findings, symptoms, health history, and individual goals.
What Is Naturopathic Oncology?
Naturopathic oncology is a supportive approach to cancer care that combines an understanding of conventional oncology treatment with evidence-informed nutrition, lifestyle strategies, supplementation, and other complementary therapies.
At Restore Health, naturopathic oncology is not used as a replacement for conventional cancer treatment. Instead, the goal is to develop an individualized strategy that complements the care you receive from your oncologist while addressing factors that may affect your health, quality of life, and ability to navigate treatment.
Personalized Support During Cancer Treatment
Cancer and cancer treatment affect each patient differently. Recommendations at Restore Health are therefore based on the individual rather than a standardized cancer protocol.
Depending on your diagnosis, treatment plan, symptoms, laboratory findings, and goals, your care may include evaluation of:
• Nutrition and metabolic health
• Exercise, sleep, stress, and other lifestyle factors
• Vitamins, minerals, and targeted nutritional supplements
• Potential supplement–drug and supplement–treatment interactions
• Laboratory testing and nutritional or metabolic deficiencies
• Support for treatment-related symptoms, side effects, and quality-of-life concerns
• Evidence surrounding complementary and repurposed therapies
Recommendations are considered in the context of your conventional treatment, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, radiation, hormonal therapy, or surgery when applicable.
Understanding Your Conventional Cancer Treatment Matters
Complementary cancer care should not be developed in isolation from conventional oncology treatment.
Dr. Nyman completed a naturopathic oncology residency with extensive exposure to patients undergoing chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapies, radiation, hormonal therapy, and surgery. His training included reviewing treatment regimens with chemotherapy, laboratory findings, imaging, treatment response, and supportive-care considerations.
This experience helps inform recommendations at Restore Health so that nutrition, supplements, lifestyle interventions, and other supportive strategies can be considered within the context of the patient’s actual oncology treatment.
Cancer Care Built Around the Individual
Two people with the same cancer diagnosis may have very different needs.
Cancer type, stage, molecular characteristics, previous treatments, current medications, nutritional status, metabolic health, symptoms, laboratory findings, and personal goals can all influence the supportive strategies that may be appropriate.
For that reason, Restore Health does not use a single supplement protocol or predetermined cancer “stack.” Recommendations are individualized and adjusted as your treatment and clinical picture change.
Naturopathic Oncology Throughout Utah
Restore Health provides naturopathic oncology consultations through telehealth for patients throughout Utah.
Virtual care allows patients to receive individualized supportive oncology guidance from home while continuing treatment with their existing oncologist and cancer center. Patients are required to maintain an active relationship with an oncology team responsible for their conventional cancer treatment.
Whether you are preparing to begin treatment, currently undergoing therapy, transitioning between treatments, or moving into survivorship, care can be adapted to your current stage of the cancer journey.

Frequently Asked Questions About Naturopathic Oncology
Does naturopathic oncology replace my oncologist?
No. Care at Restore Health is designed to complement conventional cancer treatment, not replace it. Patients are expected to maintain an active relationship with an oncologist who oversees their conventional cancer care.
Can you work with me while I’m receiving chemotherapy or immunotherapy?
Yes. Supportive care can be developed around conventional treatments such as chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, hormonal therapy, radiation, and surgery. Recommendations are individualized based on your treatment regimen, health history, medications, laboratory findings, and other relevant factors.
Will you recommend supplements during cancer treatment?
Supplements may be considered when appropriate, but recommendations are individualized rather than based on a predetermined cancer protocol. Potential interactions with medications and cancer treatments are considered when developing a supportive care plan.
Do you offer naturopathic oncology care outside of Utah?
Restore Health currently provides naturopathic oncology care to patients located in Utah through telehealth.
Do I need laboratory testing?
Laboratory testing may be recommended when it can provide useful information for developing or refining your care plan. The type and extent of testing depends on your individual situation. Supportive care can still be provided when a patient chooses not to complete every recommended test.
